Characteristics

  • Disc slightly wider than long; mostly naked, with a mid-belt of small flattened denticles extending onto tail base.
  • Tail length when intact over twice disc length.
  • Back light brown with dark brown to black blotches in smaller specimens that change into a reticulated pattern in larger specimens.
  • Maximum size: about 200 cm (disc width).

The Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
