Characteristics

  • Body depth 2.8 to 2.9 in standard length.
  • Dental plates smooth; lips covering 1/2 to 3/4 of dental plates.
  • 6 median pre dorsal scales and 3 rows of cheek scales.
  • Pectoral fins with 13 branched rays.
  • Caudal fin slightly rounded, becoming emarginated in large terminal phase fish.
  • 2 adult color phases: Initial phase: light brownish grey, 2 longitudinal rows of 5 whitish spots on sides. Terminal phase: body green, a broad blue green band on chin to lower edge of orbit.
  • Maximum size: 35 cm (standard length).
