Characteristics

  • Body oblong and compressed.
  • Head large; 2 dorsal fins, the first with 7 spines, the second with 1 spine and 9 soft rays.
  • Anal fin with 2 spines and 8 soft rays.
  • Pectoral fin with 13 soft rays.
  • 25 scales along lateral line.
  • Body color greyish; back darker; a black round blotch as large as eye under first dorsal fin
  • Maximum size: 10 cm

The Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
