Characteristics

  • Body depth 2.6 to 3.3 times in standard length.
  • Eye diameter 5 to 7.3 times in head length.
  • Dorsal fin with 11 spines and 16 to 18 soft rays.
  • Caudal fin truncate or rear margin slightly concave.
  • Pored lateral line scales 49 to 53.
  • Head, body and fins covered with small, closely-set, brown spots.
  • A narrow white edge usually visible along rear margin of caudal fin.
  • Maximum size: 75 cm.

The Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
