Characteristics

  • Body oval, with small, weakly ctenoid scales covering head, body and fins.
  • Mouth small, outer series of incisors with long roots in jaws.
  • Single dorsal fin with 10 or 11 spines and 13 to 15 soft rays.
  • Base of soft dorsal fin longer than spinous dorsal.
  • Color slate blue with brilliant bronze lines along head and scale rows of body.
  • Maximum size: 60 cm.

Distribution

The Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
