Characteristics

  • Body oblong, compressed; dorsal profile strongly convex to second dorsal fin.
  • Gillrakers (including rudiments) 6 to 8 upper, 17 to 19 lower and 24 to 27 (rarely 24) total on first gill arch.
  • Total soft dorsal and anal fin rays 34 to 38.
  • Distal half of upper lobe of caudal fin black or dusky, reminder of fin yellow.
  • Maximum size: 78 cm (fork length)

Distribution

The Sea of Oman and the most eastern part of the Persian Gulf.
