Characteristics

  • Body elongate.
  • Eyes relatively large.
  • Distance between eye and maxilla one half or less of eye diameter.
  • Scale rows above lateral line oblique, those below it horizontal.
  • Dorsal fin with 11 spines and 11 to 12 soft rays.
  • Ground color of body yellowish or pale brown, one stronger, dark yellow stripe along sides from tip of snout to caudal fin.
  • Maximum size: 25 cm.

Distribution

The Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
