  • Body moderately deep.
  • A stout, backward-projecting spine just below eye.
  • Pre dorsal scales not reaching snout, extending forward to level of anterior margin of eyes.
  • Lower limb of pre opercle with 1 to 3 small scales.
  • Dorsal fin with 10 spines and 9 soft rays and continuous.
  • Color, olive to whitish with a prominent black streak along upper back.
  • Maximum size: 30 cm.
